About Balwyn Men's Probus

We are an active group of men living in and around Boroondara, determined to get the most out of our retirement.

Our Club offers many diverse interest groups: Walking, Investment, Discussion, Movies, Coffee and Cake, Tek-Talk, Writing, Music Appreciation, Ukulele and Discovery Touring.

We hold our monthly General Meeting on the last Friday of the month at the Balwyn Community Centre where we enjoy the company of friends we have made, and hear thought-provoking speakers.

We follow the meeting with a chef-catered lunch and a glass of wine or other beverage for $20 (Visitors $10).

We also have many special occasions when we get together with our wives, partners and friends, e.g., the annual Club BBQ, Christmas in July Lunch, Christmas Lunch and more.

Membership is complimentary for two months and then $65 p.a. with no joining fee.

Discovery Group Trip to Ballarat

What's Been Happening...

A Taste of Maritime History

Members travelled to Docklands to see the progress with the restoration of the tug ‘Wattle’.
Following lunch at Williamstown, they then enjoyed a guided tour of the Bathurst-class corvette HMAS Castlemaine.

Meeting 'Under the Clocks'

After meeting under the clocks at Finders Street station, members enjoyed a 5½ km. walk around Southbank and along the Yarra River. They ended the walk with a very pleasant lunch at a nearby café.

Getting Involved With Science

Members were taken on a guided tour of the Pumping Station and Collection Store at Scienceworks in Spotswood. After the very interesting tour, all enjoyed lunch in Williamstown.

Visiting a Murchison Mansion

Members, partners and friends were taken by bus to Noorilim, the Italianate mansion located near Murchison. After a tour of the home and the magnificent gardens, the group adjourned to the Nagambie RSL for lunch.

Happy Snappers in the Dandenongs

A group of “happy snappers” journeyed to the Dandenongs to photograph the amazing statues in the William Ricketts sanctuary. They then travelled on to Olinda for lunch and great fellowship.

Members always enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by chef Shawn and a glass of wine or soft drink after the monthly General Meeting at the Balwyn Community Centre.
